Wall vent covers

Wall vent covers have a singular advantage that is defnitely missing from floor vent covers, namely, it isn't important that the decorative vent covers be able to support a gigantic amount of weight, which is always a consideration when it comes to floor locations. Consequently it is not important to have thicker faceplates or in the cases of metal heat registers welded steel support strapping or some other method to increase the load bearing capacity. Geometric wall vent covers as seen on this page are actually very durable due to the construction consisting of one quarter inch thick high density plywood. The top veneer is typically oak, cherry, maple or paint grade wood although there are a number of additional wood choices we have on hand so if you have a special need in that regard please ask us and if available we would generally be able to include that wood option at no additional charge.

For whatever reason, it is not unusual to find that wall duct openings are not standard sizes, but may actually be some oddball fractional size. This is not a problem with these geometric decorative vent covers as we can make them to fit whatever nonstandard opening you might possess. In addition we have the ability to make the borders whatever width you want. Usually that is about one inch, but sometimes customers have defective plaster they wish to cover up and need a wider border. Even more common is the situation where the opening is very close to a ceiling or a corner and it would be advantagious to have a narrower border. We are well suited to accommodate those situations and furthermore, we provide computer drawings showing the pattern and the dimensions so you can double check everything before construction actually happens. In the event you need to make changes at the point it is definitely possible and then we follow up with an additional drawing showing the changes. There is no charge for the drawings. Probably half the drawings end up being modified somewhat, so if that happens you can feel confident knowing that you are not the first to request a redraw.

Decorative vent covers

It would be crass to name drop, but we have provided this style of geometric register in homes of some of the most prominent people in America today, so you would be in good company. We show twenty six faceplate designs in these wall vent covers (which are also entirely appropriate for ceilings as well). There is almost certainly a style for just about anyone's taste. However, if for some reason you have a particular custom design that you need we are certainly willing to talk about it and it may very well be workable. For example, we just made the faceplate design shown on our metal craftsman style register using this construction method since that enabled us make a large air return that was not available in the metal.

additional options

In addition to the construction method already discussed, we also make these for flush mount wall or ceiling application, either with a rare earth magnet attachment method or with a permanent faceplate. These are much easier to install if the wall is being constructed. Retrofitting them later can be quite a chore and is definitely best suited for a contractor. These are made for 5/8 inch sheetrock.

These are particularly well suited for toe kick application, which lends itself to our ability to customize since there is usually very minimal vertical room in a toe kick area. Also, consider that these are excellent in a baseboard situation, in both scenarios in which the decorative vent covers are either needed in a certain thickness or may be needed in a sloping configuration to cover up a portion of the floor that has been cut out, which is often seen in vintage homes that originally had gravity heat.

Lastly, these wall vent covers can be made for ceiling or wall fans for the bathroom. If you have ever tried to clean the blades of one of those exhaust fans (which should be done probably twice a year to avoid motor burnout or fires), then you certainly know what a hassle it is to get the ugly plastic cover off then reinstalled again. These fan covers are held in place with neodymium magnets so take the cover off or on is extremely easy. Plus, they look so much better than the plastic cover, and the styling will match your decorative vent covers.
